Super Seniors defeat the Red Rose at Northenden

Several Northern Counties support Super Senior (over 65s) men's county teams who play unofficial matches.

Cheshire played old rivals Lancashire at Northenden on 14th July.

Both sides had difficulty fielding a full team due to injuries, holidays and attendance at the Open Championship.

For Cheshire, Nick Ryan (Ringway) very kindly came to the rescue to ensure a full team of 12. Peter Darlington, (S&A) arose from his sick bed following a hip replacement and played for the Red Rose team.

Well done to all.

The Red Rose team took an early lead winning the top two games before the tail came good enabling a Cheshire win by four matches to two. (see result sheet attached)

The Northenden course was in great shape having recovered from being completely flooded over New Year 2025.

The catering staff looked after us well and chicken in peppercorn sauce was much appreciated after the game.

Many thanks are due to Lee Turner, Northenden Director and Cheshire Seniors Captain, who made the arrangements.
