Under 14s undeterred by high altitude course
Our Under 14s took on and defeated Shropshire & Herefordshire at the unique Church Stretton GC
Cheshire u14’s made a very interesting trip to take on their Shropshire and Herefordshire counterparts at Church Stretton Golf Club
Graham McCormack, U14 team manager said: “Church Stretton, is unique and one of the highest golf courses in the UK nestling in an area, appropriately nicknamed ‘Little Switzerland’.
“Although only 5,000yds long it's a real toughy, it starts with three par 3's, all uphill!
“The first hole (pic of green below) is one of the hardest I've ever seen or played.
“Knowing that most of the S&H players had played here before (an absolute must) myself, Jim and Mike were happy for our squad to simply enjoy the experience and challenge ahead.
“But our boys had other ideas, all rooting for each other and went one better and won, 6.5 to 3.5 - a half, a great win which was played in an extremely friendly manner.
“Thanks to Dave Jones and Carl, our S&H hosts for the day, along with the club and members, for making us most welcome. -Vitally important, and a BIG thank you to parents, who made the longgg journey to CSGC -Without you these events wouldn't happen.
“Also to my colleagues Jim and Mike, along with our pro, Mark Johnson, your on-going support is invaluable!
“We're nearing the end of the season, with Hale-13 September and Ringway 4-October yet to play for some of you...
