Under 17S take on Wilmslow

Under 17S take on Wilmslow

Having previously played the scratch teams from Astbury and Chester this year in an attempt to get more matchplay experience for the boys on the verge of the first team, The Boys went into this game buoyed by their previous victories, but form was no match for the experience of the Wilmslow Team.

Although 4 matches went to the final green three of these ended all square and the last, which was an epic father v son match, ended with a victory by just one hole to Andy Hughes, and probably saved his son Jasper from having to ring up his mum for a lift home.

The fixture was played in beautiful sunshine on a fantastic course, with the greens still in magnificent condition following the Club’s Autum Meeting held the previous day. All the players were extremely complimentary about the course.

What was even nicer to hear was how complimentary the home team were about the standard and performance of the youngsters they were playing against.

But in the end experience paid off and the home team secured a 6.5:1.5 victory with every one of the home team contributing to the final score.

Hopefully a great experience for all the boys and as one of the parents commented afterwards, “my son’s opponent was very, very good to play with, and gave some great feedback that he thinks will be really useful”

Many thanks to all the Wilmslow players for a fine match.
