Golfaholic Tony takes over at Stockport.

Tony Gregory is a self confessed ‘Golfaholic’ and is looking forward to a great year ahead as Captain of his beloved club Stockport GC where he has been a member for 22 years.

As well as playing Tony has a wide experience in golf administration and top golf roles over the years.

He is also a member of the Manchester and District Golf Captains where he again served in various executive roles and was Captain in 2018.

He is a member of the Old Manchester Golf Club, which has a very distinguished and small membership as well as The Perishers and the British Dental Association (Past Captain and President) Societies.

He has been a Life member of the Cheshire Golf Association for over 40 years and joined the County Executive in 2029 and was County President in 2023.

Tony has played 314 rounds of golf in the past 295 days and will be looking to play more in his year as Captain.
Tony will be joined in office by his wife Linda as Lady Captain and Nick Cox as President.

Their drive-in took place on the day of Storm Amy and was braved by 128 men playing in the Captain’s Team against the President’s team with the final score being recorded for the Team Aggregate.

What an elegant finish to Tony’s first tee shot as Mr Captain

The Captain’s team were the winners by 23 holes and they were ceremonially handed over with a golf ball at a well-attended Evening Dinner with plenty of banter and hilarious fun.

Tony said: “It was a very special and memorable day to start the year in office and went on until the small hours I think!”
