Reddish Vale Dinner date for new Cheshire President

The annual Reddish Vale Gentleman’s Dinner has been a traditional first official function for the newly appointed Cheshire President for many years, coming just three days after the Cheshire AGM.

The Vale dinner format was changed this year with the title now being the ‘Mackenzie Dinner’ in memory of the world famous golf course architect who designed their great course.

Ladies were also in attendance for the first time and along with the new Cheshire President Marjorie Griffiths (Ringway GC) the other main guest was Peter McKeown (Ellesmere GC) who is the Captain of the Association of Manchester Past Captains.

Marjorie said: “I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the evening very much as it was the first time they had invited women since 1912!

“Good for them- a positive reaction to the unification of the county.”

Dave Sanders, a true legend of Reddish Vale, who won the county Life Time Achievement Award a few years ago, has been the main organiser of the dinner for many years added:”The speeches by Marjorie and Peter were as good as I have ever heard and they were the highlights of a splendid evening.”
