Sheila Harrison has recently retired after 30 years as a primary school teacher and head teacher and is looking forward to an enjoyable year ahead as the new Lady Captain at Styal GC.
Sheila said: “I have been a member of Styal seriously for about six years having played on the driving range and par three course in the previous four years when I was very busy.
“Styal is a very friendly club with an active ladies section and we welcome people of all abilities and encourage newcomers to get involved.
“There are events on throughout the week to take part in and the monthly mixed BB is also well supported.
“My current handicap is 33.2 after a recent hip operation and I am aiming to play about three times a week as well as watching football (season ticket holder at Manchester United), going to watch live music/ bands, city breaks, going to the cinema, reading and walking.
“My favourite courses, other than Styal are Mirafloresin Costa Mijas, Spain, and Delamere Forest.
“My favourite hole at Styal is the 17th– It’s straight, slightly uphill, with hedges on the left and trees on the right. If you can avoid the oak tree it is possible to reach the sloping green which can also give issues depending on the pin position.
“My chosen charity for the year is Maggie’s Manchester and my charity day is on May 8 details of how to join it are available from the club.
“My own personal golfing highlight is winning a medal competition less than 24 hours after returning from two weeks in Mexico – I was so jet-lagged I had no idea of where I was or what I was doing!
“My chosen players to join me in a four ball would be Rory McIlroy- a fellow long-suffering Man United fan and we would have plenty to talk about re football and golf.
“Samuel L Jackson, one of the greatest actors ever who could give me 18 different characters playing the round. He would be an incredibly interesting person to talk to- about films, actors and golf outfits
“Tico Torres – I am a lifelong Bon Jovi fan and he has always been one of my drumming heroes we could talk paradiddles and drum riffs and I am sure that he would have a tale or two about life in a rock band and the interesting musicians that he has met.”
