Stockport put on a great show

The Annual Dinner is one of the big events of the year at Stockport Golf Club and the 119th was a fantastic evening which continued into the wee small hours.

Stockport Captain Tony ‘Golfaholic’ Gregory was delighted to greet a full house of members, club officials and distinguished guests to a memorable occasion.

Tony, a former Cheshire President and currently President of Manchester Past Captains, said: “The food and service were first class and appreciated by everyone and the speeches and entertainment were outstanding and the room was filled with friendship, laughter and amazement- Happy Days!

“With me on the top table were recent Cheshire President John Heggarty and Stockport President Nic Cox and several other distinguished guests.

“An excellent dinner was accompanied by fine wines before the entertainment and the legend that is Peter Buckley proposed a toast a very humerous toast to the guests.

“John Heggarty proposed a well-researched and sincere toast to Stockport Golf Club and I hope I was able to match this with my speech giving great insight into his fantastic career in golf.

“Then entertainer Billy Flywheel put on a magnificent show with humorous banter, stunning magic and phenomenal mind games.as he masterfully controlled the room.

“The Vice Captain Sean Hickey was in the spotlight at the end of Billy’s entertainment.

“He was stuck to chairs, received electric shocks in the derrière and ended up unable to remove a teddy bear attached to his head.- an experience he will not easily forget!

“Another great evening for our wonderful Club and my thanks go to all who helped make it such a great night.”
