Ringway Captains Charity Presentation

Ringway Golf Club’s past Captain John Jarvis was delighted with the amount raised for his chosen Captain’s Charity of North West Ambulance as he handed over a cheque for £6.885.96 to Danny Daynes the Senior Fund Raiser for the charity.

John said:” I chose North West Air Ambulance because as an ageing motorcyclist (Not often now) and a golfer I am aware of the fantastic work they do.

“In 2022 they had cause to land on the 18th fairway to attempt to save a very good friend of mine, past Captain and member of RGC Derek Atherton.

“Sadly on that occasion there was nothing they could do for him, however, we should never forget the lives they are able to save and the great work they do which receives no public funding.

“I would like to give my thanks to all who contributed, the monies were raised by holding a Charity Golf Day, where members generously paid to enter teams with various other fundraising on the day including a charity auction and beat the pro.

“There were also regular Sunday morning charity matches whereby members make a donation to have a round with the Captain and Lady Captain.

“Overall the generosity of members in contributing or donating prizes for auctions and competitions has been overwhelming!”

Danny Daynes added: “We’re incredibly grateful to John Jarvis, Golf Captain, and all the members of Ringway Golf Club for their generous support and kind donation of £6,885.96.

“This donation could fund seven blood transfusions, a vital intervention usually not performed outside of hospitals, and receiving this intervention can be the difference life and death.

“By choosing to support North West Air Ambulance as their Charity Of The Year, Ringway GC  have helped us continue to be there for the most critically ill patients in your community.

As a charity that receives no government or NHS funding, support like this is vital in helping us continue to deliver lifesaving care right here in Cheshire.

“Last year we attended over 550 missions in Cheshire, and every pound raised by Golf Clubs like Ringway  allows our crews to be ready to respond at a moment’s notice.”
