Under-12s Showing Promise

Junior golf in Cheshire has made great strides since it started the Golf Development Group two years ago.
Cheshire Golf has a Golf Development Group for 12 boys aged 9-12 who are already showing promise as good golfers.
Cheshire Golf official Andrew Henshall (Wilmslow Golf Club) said: “Having started the GDG the County is already benefiting from working with these boys at a younger age as some from two years ago are now getting coaching with the Under 16s and one with the Under 17s this winter thanks to the support given to them plus their hard work.
“The first meeting for this year’s U12 group intake involved 9 holes playing Skins in the morning and a 9 hole Texas Scramble in the afternoon at Marton Meadows Golf Club followed by an hour in their excellent studio with head coach Mark Johnson from Styal.
“The winning team in the Scramble, with a score of three under gross, was Cornack Narey (Crewe GC) , Euan Courtney (Avro GC) and Cruz Norton (Northenden GC).
“Cruz the overall winner on the day as he had the best individual score in the morning and received a Cheshire Golf Bobble Hat as his prize from Mark Johnson.
Any young golfers looking to join the group can find out the details on the Cheshire Golf website.”
Players enjoying the day: Cormac Narey (Crewe) Jamie Yarwood (Sandiway), Charlie Thompson (Styal), Euan Courtney (Avro), Harry Grey (Wallasey), Alexander Le (Ringway), Cruz Norton (Northenden), Edward Graham (Wallasey), Eli Manion (Styal), Harvey Eastwood (Caldy), Casper Bernstein (Ashton-on-Mersey), Buster Airey (Heswall).
