Under 14s lose narrowly at Wallasey

Cheshire U14 Boys enjoyed playing one of the best courses in the country as they took on Wallasey GC juniors.

U14 manager Graham McCormack said: “Once more we were up against it handicap-wise giving 140 shots and receiving none.

“Wallasey won the first four matches before we came back to win the next four to level at 4-4.

“Three of the winners were Jacob Thorp. Heaton Moor), Aidan Lam (Prestbury) and James Prest (Romiley) after giving 17, 21 and 22 shots respectively before Wallsey bounced back to win the last two games for a 6-4 win.

“A number of matches were quite close, but home advantage probably tipped the scales… Importantly,

“The players can all add Wallasey to their portfolio of courses played and for those of them who, on our recommendation, have entered Wallasey’s Junior Open on Sunday 13th July, and today has been an ideal opportunity to prepare for the challenge ahead.

“Many thanks to Wallasey Golf Club and Dave Robinson and Ben Keegan our hosts on the day, we were made most welcome. The catering mirrored the course; it was first class.

“Thanks also go to all the parents; your support is much appreciated and finally my thanks go to my colleagues Jim McBride and Mike Jone) for their usual top class help.”
