A win for Lymm on home turf

Lymm Golf Club were again fantastic hosts for the Cheshire Junior Team Championships providing a pristine course, great help with organisation and top class clubhouse hospitality on a very busy day.
There were over 90 junior boys in the field representing many Cheshire Clubs looking to win the team prize and represent Cheshire in the English County Junior Team Championships at Woodhall Spa in August.
The home team from Lymm were aiming to follow in the footsteps of their team who made it through to the 2018 final.
They were early starters and good scoring from Haydn Wood, Joel Doubleday and Fraser Scott-Herron saw them set a stiff target of 79.
The main challenge came late in the day from Alsager who closed the gap to two points with Ted Myatt posting an impressive 43 points to take the top individual prize but it was not enough overtake the 2024 champions Lymm.
Graham McCormack, the CUGC u 14 manager and England Golf’s winner of the 2024 ‘Lifetime Service Award’, did the presentation of trophies and prizes and also presented a CUGC plaque to Lymm Captain Philip Young for the great support given to his club for their staging of the event.
Graham also paid deserved thanks to the players, their parents and junior organisers the CUGC officials and Lymm Golf Club in making this another special day for junior golf in Cheshire.
