Under 14s draw with Wallasey in the rain

The Cheshire Boys u14 squad have enjoyed a busy season with plenty of team and individual success and development.
Team manager Graham McCormack said: “Today at Wallasey was our very last U14s game of the season, a season which has seen some super handicap reductions and enjoyed, I know, by all in theU14s squad.
“Those of you young enough will continue being a part of the U14s, while those too old will be contacted re the U16s for 2025.
“I must make special mention of Jasper Hughes who has been with us for four years and is one of our longest serving players, who first played for us at Davenport GC.
“He leaves us for the U16s with a very handy 2.5 handicap. We wish you well in times ahead ‘Jasp’ and we’ll miss your BIG smile and curly mop too!
“Every one of you deserves a medal today (and some parents, too) for playing and watching in atrocious
conditions -doesn’t describe near-enough how tough it was out there, well done ALL of you both the Wallasey and U14s players…
“The match resulted in a very appropriate draw, 5 all.
“The three young girls for Wallasey, Sophie, Yasmine and Isabella, each managed to win their games, well done girls, also with Jack Roche and Callum Miller. However I must give credit to Thomas, Toby and James, as you had a mountain to climb giving away 65 shots.
“Winning for Cheshire were James Clark 6/4, Jasper Hughes 6/5, Will Furness 7/6, Ricky Mohun 5/4.
“My only regret today was that you all played one of the best courses in the country in such awful conditions – there will be better times.
“Wallasey is a super supporter of junior golfers and the CUGC. Dave Robinson, Wallasey’s Junior Organiser does a super job there and he, along with the club were thanked for their hospitality today.
“So too were parents and Jim McBride and Mike Jones who have supported me and the squad throughout the year.”
