Mixed Team Event

Winners Connie Shannon, Tom Shannon Mally Walters with LC Margaret Oxton & Captain Ernie Burford

Mixed Junior Open 25th April 2021

The event was hosted by Eastham Lodge Golf Club in glorious sunshine.  My thanks go to the Captain Ernie Burford, Lady Captain Margaret Oxton, and Club Manager Darren Chapman.  There was such enthusiasm to make us feel welcome that we also had the Vice-Captain Steve, and the chairman come down to see us.

The course has been undergoing significant work and has major refurbishment plans of a new clubhouse being developed.  All of the bunkers have been reworked and relaid.

County Captain Frances Gell saw the teams off as starter, with County Junior Captain Siobhan Grayson leading the charge, before going out herself to close the field.

The scores represented how difficult the course was playing despite being relatively short.  The tight course coupled with the hard and fast ground was a definite challenge.

It was really heartening to see virtually all the teams stay for the presentation. After short speeches by County Captain thanking Eastham Lodge for their hospitality and by the Eastham Lodge’s Men’s Captain thanking everyone for playing, the prizes were presented at a socially distanced presentation on the practice putting green by Eastham Lodge’s Lady Captain.

First Prize £30 Vouchers each Connie Shannon, Tom Shannon, Mally Watters 67 points.
