Cheshire Boys enjoy Northenden GC as they cruise home against Cumbria

Cheshire boys were amazed at the recovery of Northenden Golf Club after the flood devastation earlier in the year as they took on Cumbria in a Northern Junior League match.

All of the players enjoyed the course and clubhouse hospitality with great support from staff and members.

The Cheshire team was missing the stars from the previous week’s winning England Golf National County Junior title but still showed the great depth of junior talent in the county as they cruised to a comfortable 12.5-2.5 victory.

The pace was set in the morning foursomes as wins for Dean Lenehan (Styal) and Jack Barnes (Romiley) two up, Callum Woolley (Crewe) and Ricky Mohun (Delamere Forest) 3/2, Will Furness and Lawson Yates (Ringway) 7/6, Austin Eastwood (Caldy) and Austin O’Connor (Prestbury) 5/4 backed by a half from Dylan Emms (Bramall Park) and Jasper Hughes (Wilmslow) set up victory.

The high standards were maintained in the afternoon singles with wins for Dean Lenehan two up, Callum Woolley 3/2, Jack Barnes two up, Ricky Mohun 6/4, Lawson Yates 3/1, Will Furness 4/3, Jasper Hughes 2/1 and Austin O’Connor 4/2 completing a resounding win.
