Boys Captain ready for another great year

Ringway Golf Club’s young star Cole Self is looking to enjoy another year of individual and team success as the 2025 Cheshire Boys Captain.

Cole, aged 16, plays off +3 handicap and was proud to represent the full Cheshire Men’s and boys’ teams as well as England u16’s twice in Italy and Ireland in 2024.

Cole, a former student at Priestnall School in Heaton Moor, outlines his recent success and upcoming plans in golf: “Previously I won the North of England u14 championships and the Ringway Club Championships at the age of 14 and last year the u16 championships as well as the Cheshire Boys Championships and Cheshire Boys team won the Four Counties competition.

“I would like to thank Peter Barer for coaching me since I was five years old and also my mum and dad for transporting me round all over the country.

”My plans for the coming year are hopefully to win national events and represent my country and county again.

“Also to help Cheshire win the Four Counties again this year and also the ‘Little Six’ and the national final because I feel that we have a terrific team and a great chance of accomplishing this.

“In the future my aim is to become a professional golfer and my golfing idol is Tommy Fleetwood.”
