Great new role for top Cheshire coach

John began his golf at Chorlton GC under the guidance of their legendary professional David Screeton and playing-wise enjoyed success in various golf tours and the Manchester and District Alliance with his highlight being the awesome experience of playing in The Open Championship at St Andrews in 1995.

At the same time he was developing his coaching skills at various venues before moving to Styal Golf Club in 2006.

John said: “I began coaching the England Regional squad in the West Midlands and was the North West Regional England coach and I started my coaching programme seven years ago at the Cheshire Performance Golf Academy (CPGA) at Styal.

“There I have coached hundreds of golfers from beginners to Tour players and last year I opened my home studio in my back garden in Cheadle Hulme which was a great addition to the work I was still doing at Styal.

“It has all of the top technology including Trackman, golf biodynamics and 3D analysis and is a terrific asset to my work as a PGA tutor.

“Last year two of the Cheshire girls I coached played for the national squad.

“It was great news to hear that I had been appointed as the England Girls National Coach and I was super excited to get it started and it began with a win against Ireland u16’s in Dublin. Well done to the Girls and a great start for me!”

Over the years John has been the PGA Regional Captain and also raised over £500,000 for Children’s charities including Childflight and The Way Ahead via golf days and cycle events after losing his daughter Amy, then ten, eleven years ago.
