Horsey coaches Cheshire juniors

David Horsey is a true Cheshire golfing legend who began his golf as a junior at Styal Golf Club where he has always been involved in supporting junior golf.
Styal and Cheshire coach Mark Johnson said: “He has set up and hosted the David Horsey Styal Junior Open for many years.
“It was held this year in July and was an amazing day with superb prizes , trophies and the winner won a game with David.
“He also held a short game clinic at the conclusion of play to share his tips with all of the competitors. “David has also done two coaching sessions with the Cheshire u12 group at Styal which has seen him passing on his short game tips to future stars on ‘The Cheshire County Development Programme.’
“David has a simple and effective strategy for his short game, it’s a great way to play the multiple green side shots needed with minimal change. “Every golfer would benefit from following his strategy.

“It’s been a pleasure to host David for a second year with the Development Squad. I know David is keen to put something back into junior golf, especially at his home course at Styal. It’s always a fun session so great for the kids to hear it firsthand from a Tour Winner.
“The Cheshire County Development Programme is the first stage of the boys County Golf experience, for boys aged 12 and under. We’ve just finished the second year (Oct to July) and it’s been a real kickstart and for all the boys on the comprehensive programme. It’s coached and delivered by myself. “This year we have also been joined by Jordan Massey, putting specialist and we will be recruiting shortly for 2024/2025 season.
