Manchester Lady Captains enjoy the Whitefield Experience

The Manchester and District Society of Past Lady Captains played the second qualifier of their competition at Whitefield GC with the wining pair going through to finals day.

There were 128 players in a Foursomes Stableford format looking to make the finals who all enjoyed a pristine and challenging course, excellent hospitality with great support from members and staff of Whitefield GC.

On the first tee all players were greeted by Lady Captain’s Captain Anne Moizer (Chorlton GC) and President Sheila Antrobus (Oldham GC). Pictured above (left to right) : Laura Roberts and Claire Whitney (Heaton Moor GC), Anne Moizer, Sheila Antrobus, Kim Ryder and Elaine Clarke.

Anne thanked Jennifer Fallows and Barbara Whiting for all the competition arrangements and additionally Jenny Pace and Secretary Pat Phillips.

Leading in were Gerry Snook and Hazel Hanks (Stockport GC) with 44 points, followed by Sandra Qualters and Nicky Proffitt (Fairfield GC) with 42 points, Karen Goodhew and Pauline Barber (Ellesmere GC) with 41 points and Karen McCormick and Rebecca Owen (Tunshill GC) with 40 points after a cpo.

The wining pair will play with Hazel Grove Runners Up Val Hornsby and Jo Pratt (Alderley Edge GC) from the first qualifier at Hazel Grove GC and Louise Apsden and Jane Michael (Ellesmere GC) will play with Sandra Qualters and Nicky Proffitt at Chorlton GC on 8 August. Good luck to you all!

The 9 hole competition at Oldham GC was won by President Sheila Antrobus, Pat Jackson (Worsley GC) and Edith Smythe (Oldham GC).
