Lady Captain sets another club record

Didsbury Captain Martin Caddick enjoyed a very busy and long Captain’s Day. The weather was very kind despite a poor forecast and the course was in great condition.

The day started at 7am and play finished at 6pm and included the traditional meet up at Simons Bridge with Withington’s Captain Tony Longden who was likewise enjoying his Captain’s Day. The bridge links the two golf clubs across the River Mersey where the two shared refreshments.

The competition provided a nerve-jangling finish with just a single point separating a number of players at the top of the leaderboard. The winner was Lady Captain Margaret Lloyd on 68 on a cpo with Steve Wilkinson and Terry Tobin. Pictured above Captain Martin presenting the Lavelle Cup to Margaret.

Margaret is only the second lady to win Captain’s Day. following in the footsteps of Bev Bevins and she is also believed to be the oldest player at 80 years old to win Captain’s Day and the coverted Lavelle Cup.

Top gross score was 75 posted by Tom Owens who won the Victory Cup.

Captain Martin thanked all those who had helped on his special day and congratulated the winners.
