Ringway rule the roost at Junior Championships

There was some outstanding talent on display from Cheshire Boys u16 and u14’s at Vicars Cross Golf Club.
The club were superb hosts in providing an excellent challenging course, great help from staff and members and top class clubhouse service.
They even managed to show their climatic control to keep the rain, which plagued large areas of the county during the day, at bay with just a little very light rain falling after the players had completed their rounds.
Ringway’s Cole Self was the pre-match favourite after winning the Boys Championship at Delamere Forest a couple of weeks ago and he was delighted to hear of his call-up to the England Boys u16 team in an upcoming match.
But he had to give way to his Ringway colleague Ellis Courtnell (pictured above) who set the early pace in the u16 section with a two under par score of 70.
Cole finished on level par 72 to win the runners-up berth with Lawson Yates, also Ringway, in third spot after winning a cpo on 74 from Ricky Mohun (Delamere Forest) and Harvey Taylor (Prestbury).
But there was excellent news for Ricky who won the u14 trophy by a shot from Jasper Hughes (Wilmslow).
Harvey also got his reward winning the prize for the best nett score of 67, a shot clear of Ricky Mohun, Jamie Yarwood (Sandiway) and Pierce Freeman (Delamere Forest).
The standard of golf and scores on the day showed the great depth in talent that Cheshire Boys have in the lower age groups and a tribute to themselves for their hard work and the help and support from their parents, coaches and Cheshire Golf.
Cheshire President Roy Claxton (Eaton) presented the winners with their prizes and also gave due thanks to the host club, organisers and helpers on the day.
He presented Vicars Cross Captain Robert Thomas with a CUGC plaque for their impeccable hosting of the competition.
