Sandiway Ladies lift Elisabeth Wilson Trophy

Sandiway Golf Club ladies were delighted winners of the coveted Elizabeth Wilson Scratch Knock Out final, one of the Cheshire Ladies ‘major’ competitions.
The original final was postponed because of poor weather and the replay was at Prestbury who received well deserved thanks for the excellent condition of their superb course.
The final was a repeat of the 2023 final between Sandiway and Sale which Sale won 3-2.
The opening match saw Sale’s England star Cath Rawthore win a tight match with Jane Burke by one up.
Then Sandiway came back in style with wins from Barbara Laird 4&3 over Rebecca Hyde, Alison Hunt 5&3 over Sue Oldham and Cathy Day 5&4 over Jenny Page.
Di Stow conceded the last match to Sale’s Caroline Croxton with the result decided at 3-2 to Sandiway.
Cheshire Ladies President Pam Draper said: “Our thanks go to Lynne Leutton for organising the event and to Lis Wilson who is the inspiration for the competition which has been running for 30 years.
“Lis was unable to present the trophy as it was delayed in transit from Sale.”
