Senior Men defeat Boys at Heyrose

Heyrose Golf Club has only recently become a members club and they provided great support for the match between Cheshire Senior Men and Cheshire u17 Boys teams.

It was an experience enjoyed by both teams with the boys able to learn more about match-play golf from their experienced opponents.

Seniors Captain Martin Keates was particularly impressed with his opponent Dean Lenehan (Styal GC) who emerged a delighted 3&2 winner.

Following Dean’s example were Lawson Yates 3&2 (Ringway) over club colleague Mike Wallwork, Dylan Emms (Bramall Park) 3&2 over Ian Quirk (Lymm) and Bobby Moore (Houldsworth) 2&1 over Chris Turner (Portal).

Ricky Mohun (Delamere Forest) halved with Steve Best (Prestbury) but it was not enough to prevent the Seniors going on to win 15-9.

Picking up the wins for the Seniors were Guy Hindle (Warrington) 2&1 over James Clark (Sandiway), Richard Stockdale (Vale Royal Abbey) 3&2 over Stanley Williams (Crewe), Phil Leadbetter (Disley) 7&5 over Jasper Hughes (Wilmslow), Ian Bartholomew (Prestbury) 2&1 over Joseph Dodd-Berry (Royal Liverpool), Ian Jenkinson (Prestbury) one up over Austin Eastwood (Caldy), Neil Andrew (Northenden) 4&3 over Callum Woolley (Crewe) and Chris Massey (Prestbury 2&1 over Max Gilsenan (Chorlton)

The event was a great advert for the quality of Cheshire Golf across the age range with the high standard of golf, perfect etiquette both on and off the course.

Thanks were also due to Cheshire officials Dave Durling and Cleveland McCurdy for their support on a busy day.
