Steve ready for a busy year at Shrigley Hall

Steve Henshall (pictured) has been a member of Shrigley Hall Golf Club for nine years and their Seniors Organiser for six years.

Now he is looking forward to being the Captain of the club for the next year.

Steve said: “I usually try and play three times a week all year round with a few extra rounds in the summer with knock-out etc and this could increase in my new role.

“My current handicap is16.1 and my best was 14.

“My favourite hole at Shrigley is the par three eighth- it proves that a really well-thought out hole does not have to be the longest on the course!

“I really enjoy playing lots of different courses, especially links courses, but my favourite is the Colt Course at Close House in Newcastle.

“As well as my golf I am a busy boy watching Manchester United where I am a season ticket holder and dropping down into Bollington after playing at Shrigley in the summer to watch my son playing cricket.

“My wife’s passion is music so we attend lots of varied concerts and all of the Musical Theatre shows with Les Miserables a particular favourite.

“My chosen charity the year is East Cheshire Hospice and my personal golf highlight is visiting Pebble Beach and playing in Palm Springs.

“My chosen partners to join me in a fourball would be- Rory McIlroy just for a chance to play with the best, Sir Steve Redgrave as I admire his longevity at the top in a demanding sport and overcoming health issues to compete and Anton Du Beke- as I would get Brownie points from Lady H and I imagine he has some good stories to tell.“Finally- A visit to Shrigley now offers golfers the chance to win £10k with a hole in one on the 18th.”
