Heaton Moor Captain John WheeIer chose a local charity as his choice for the Captain’s Charity during his year in office and he was delighted to present a cheque for £2,000 to the officers of the Dementia Friend Heatons Group Beryl Whitehead, the original organiser and Joanne Roy, the current main organiser.
John said: “I chose this Charity because many of my friends and family are suffering due to this horrendous disease.
“The main events that contributed to my Charity are;Raffles, Captains Drive In and Saturdays Men’s Competitions ( nearest the Pin in 2 on the 9th or 18th Hole)
I would like to thank all members at Heaton Moor Golf Club for their support.
“The Dementia Group is very successful with thanks to the many volunteers that help and support to make it a happy environment for all to visit.
“It has been mentioned that the money raised will go towards the running costs and the Christmas Function 2024.
“The Dementia Friendly Heatons Group are based at Heaton Moor United Church on Stanley Road.
