Cheshire U 14 boys squad have a busy programme of games in the coming season but their opening fixture is one they will treasure as they took on Royal Liverpool GC juniors.
They lost a close game 4-3 but will remember for ever playing at a course which is a regular host for the British Open Championship.
Team manager Graham McCormack was unable to attend but still able to do a report.
Graham said: “Unfortunately I was unable to attend but as ever Jim McBride and Mike Jones did their usual great job and also in attendance was Cheshire Vice President Stewart Neil.
“The players can now tick off one of the best courses in the Country to add to their portfolios as they aim to add as many courses as they can.
“They gave a good account of themselves as they took on a team with some of them being three or four years older than our boys.“The team can now look forward to playing at Heswall another top course on the Wirral in their next fixture.”
