Sustainability forum a big hit

Sustainability is one of the biggest issues surrounding golf clubs today and the Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs were delighted to hold a Sustainability Conference at The Tytherington Club.
The event was open to all of the Cheshire affiliated clubs to attend and the day was led by Owen James, England Golf’s Sustainability Manager, along with other guest speakers in this field from the R&A, BIGGA and others
CUGC secretary Steve Doughty said: “ It’s a very important topic which is going to be one of the biggest issues that golf clubs are facing and I thought it would be good to get industry experts to give clubs advice.
“There were 35 clubs represented with 80 delegates.

“The day went very well with a lot of very good feedback and Tytherington looked after us very well.
“I thought that all the speakers were excellent giving plenty of information about Sustainability and how they may be able to help clubs achieve their aims in this.
“A lot of clubs were impressed with the content and asked plenty of questions of the speakers in the Q and A session.
“The relationship I believe with Cheshire and England is strong. We are a forward thinking county and are trying to work with EG and embrace their new ideas and have close links with the England Support officer Ben Johnson.”
