Sam and Jack storm to Foursomes win

Sandiway Golf Club has hosted many county, regional and national events for many years and they again put on their impeccable style on and off the course as they hosted the CUGC Men’s Foursomes Championships.
It was an exciting finish to a great day of golf at Sandiway who provided a pristine and challenging course for over 60 pairs competing over 36 holes.
It provided a thrilling finish to cap off some excellent golf with the winners being Sam Prince (Ringway) and Jack Nicholson (Vicars Cross) with a two-under par score of 138 leaving them two clear of Bramhall’s Andrew Bradshaw and Mike Harrington. Mike has made a welcome return to Cheshire after a couple of years over the border in Derbyshire.
The killer blow for the winners came in the final seven holes of their second round.
Their scores on these holes were 3,3,3,4,3,3,3 which was five under par over seven holes including an eagle on the 16th- If that is not worthy of winning any championship nothing is!

In the net competition the winners were Guy Hindle and Mike Haselden (Warrington) 137, including a magnificent second round of 67, with the runners up being a shot behind.
Mike Harrington and Andrew Bradshaw won a cpo for this slot but as they had already had a prize from the main competition it meant that George Vasey and Kieran Breeze (Wychwood Park) stepped up.
CUGC secretary Steve Doughty said: “It was an excellent day. Sandiway were so supportive with everything and could not do enough for us.
“Many of the 60 pairs competing were very complimentary about Sandiway as a club and also the organisation of the event.
“It was a big shout out for main man Stewart Neil for all of his efforts as usual, Kevin McCormack for his starting and the referees under the guidance of Paul Long.”
Stewart Neil added: “It was a top class field at a top class venue which was a credit to Cheshire golf- a sincere thanks to everyone one involved and we look forward to seeing you in 2025.”
