Under 14s enjoy match at Prestbury

Cheshire U14’s had a great day at Prestbury playing against the home club’s strong junior team and were delighted to shared the spoils at 4-4.
Under 14 manager Graham McCormack said: “Considering that most of the team had never played this course it was a very creditable draw.
“The handicaps were very well balanced, Prestbury’s players were a little older and playing on their home course they gave us a tough test.
“It was a delight to welcome Morgan Bollan (Crewe GC)) playing for our U14s squad for the first time yesterday.
She was recently the runner-up in the Welsh Junior Girls Championships and playing off 1.3 this hasn’t gone unnoticed by Wales for whom she now plays.
“Because of her age Morgan will, when available, still qualify to play for our U14s in 2025, well done Morgan!
“Additionally it was a delight to welcome our special guest on the day, Bob Meston, who kindly announced each player on the first tee.
“Bob is a member and Past Captain of Prestbury GC, Past President and junior team manager of the CUGC, all rounded off with the title: ‘England Golf’s one-time Director of “Player Selectors’ Follow that!”
Picking up the points for Cheshire were Austin Eastwood (Caldy) 5/4, George Bull (Disley) 4/3, Thomas McCann (Hazel Grove) 3/2 and Pierce Freeman (Delamere Forest) 6/4
Graham added: “My special thanks go to Paul Cooper, Toby Cooper’s’s dad, who took his life in his own hands, lying in the grass but a few yards away from each junior, catching their poses as they tee’d off at the first-hole. Many thanks for that, superb pics Paul…
“As always, my thanks go to parents for supporting us, Prestbury Golf Club and Jae Bowers their Junior Organiser and Ladies tour-pro for arranging/allowing us to play their magnificent course and special thanks to my ever-present dear friend and cohort. Jim McBride “
