Mixed-age Boys defeat Derbyshire

Alsager Golf and Country Club were excellent hosts in all aspects on and off the course for the Cheshire MA Boys team as they hosted Derbyshire.
The boys were a credit to themselves and the county as they conducted themselves impeccably throughout the day and played some excellent golf.
The opening foursomes got Cheshire off to a flying start with wins for Dan Barlow (Ringway) and Callum Woolley (Crewe) 4&3 and Reddish Vale’s Parkinson twins Luke and Cole backing this with a 5&3 win.
Derbyshire pulled a game back before the two point lead was restored by Max Gilsenan (Chorlton) and Jack Walker (Romiley) by 5&3.
Derbyshire showed their fighting spirit to win the next game before Josh Hockenhull (Prestbury) and George Bull (Disley) won 5&3 to give Cheshire a comfortable 4-2 lead at the lunch interval.
The afternoon singles saw Derbyshire reduce the lead in the opening match before big wins from Cole Parkinson 8&7, Callum Woolley 5&3 and Luke Parkinson 7&5 put Cheshire in control.
Further wins for James Woby (Alsager) one up, Max Gilsenan two up and Noah Alexander (Eaton), 2&1, Will Furness (Ringway) 5&3 and George Bull 6&5 took Cheshire home 8/4 in the singles and a final match score of 12-6 to keep up their great form showing the depth of talent throughout the age groups in Cheshire.
