Kate makes history at Northenden

Kate Turpie, a very active member of Northenden Golf Club is delighted to make history at her beloved club by becoming the club President for 2024-25.
Kate (Pictured) explained: “Northenden GC hasn’t ever had a lady as President in 111 years and I really do see it as a milestone in our history. I have been heartened by the positive comments from many members old and new.
“I have been a member the best part of 20 years during that time I have played an active role in the day to day running of the club.
“I served on the social committee along with our new vice Captain Lexi Hughes.
“Then I took on the role of Chair of house for three years and was then asked to be Lady Captain in 2014 and then again in 2018.
“I am known for my ability to raise money for many charities and was a founder member of the 500 Club along with the then Captain Larry McDonald.
“I spent hours and hours recruiting members and the fund has raised tens of thousands for our lovely course.
“Holding the position of President is an honour and a privilege and I hope to help both Captains in their year in office.
“Representing NGC and welcoming other clubs is something I will enjoy and hope when societies and other golfing organisations including the Cheshire GA have played and enjoyed our course and hospitality they will leave with a positive feeling.
“It’s always a joy seeing new members join and watch the progress of young and enthusiastic golfers.”
