Bramhall Captains Raring To Go

Stephen with his ‘big’ driver

Bramhall Golf Club’s new Captains Stephen Sheard and Linzi Webster got their year in office to a cracking start at their traditional drive-in enjoyed by a big audience of members and friends.

Stephen, handicap 14.9, was a real big hitter being set up by club professional Scott Parry with a huge driver on the tee – but fortunately only for show- he then hit a neat drive with his normal driver.

Lady Captain Linzi Webster, handicap 19,  was delighted with her clinical drive straight down the middle which she celebrated in style.

Linzi said: “At Bramhall we have fantastic practice and teaching facilities, a great clubhouse and a three hole reconfiguration on the back nine commencing soon which is very exciting.

“We are a forward thinking, vibrant and welcoming club of which I am proud to be a member.”

These were sentiments totally supported by Stephen who has been a member of the club for over 25 years.

He will be looking to play at least twice a week and his hobbies other than golf are singing in the oldest boy band in the world-‘The Three Cheddars’, woodwork, house renovation and stained glass work.

Linzi is looking to play three or four times a week as well as walking in the hills and travelling.

Their chosen charities are for Linzi ‘Support Dogs’ an amazing charity, and Stephen ‘Mind for Stockport and District’.

Their favourite courses other than Bramhall are Royal Birkdale for Stephen and Nefyn for Linzi.

Linzi’s players she would like to join her in a four-ball would be Peter Kay and Shane Lowry, for laughter, and Nelly Korda, for inspiration.
