Janet Godfrey has been a member of Romiley Golf Club for 36 years and recently celebrated her 80thbirthday there.
Then in a recent Thursday ladies Stableford at her club she played the round of her life to set up more celebrations.
Playing off her 36.7 handicap with her long-time friend Kerry Brown, Janet found inspiration on the third green.
Janet said: “When I approached the green there were two white feathers next to each other and I picked them up and put one in each pocket to visualise my late husband Paul and late son Mark looking down on me.
“I still can’t believe what then happened as I have never played that well for years finishing with a net 60 and 49 Stableford points and 12 clear of Kerry who finished second after a cpo with Teresa Hogg.
“It is one of the best-ever scores by a Romiley lady golfer and I was delighted to reduce my handicap to 33.2”
