Ringway’s new officials drive in

Ringway Golf Club’ new officials are delighted to be chosen for their roles and continue to take their superb club to more success in the coming year

The new Captain is Simon Fisher, a member of Ringway for 17 years, with a single-figure handicap of 8.3. Simon said:”Ringway is a busy club with a great atmosphere. We have a superb course allied with an outstanding catering operation.

“Ringway is such a friendly club and there is nowhere else that I would rather play golf.”

Simon’s views were backed by Lady Captain Bernie Battman who joined Ringway in 2014 after playing at Altrincham and Sutton Hall.

Bernie said: “I was a bit nervous about the move but the ladies were lovely and friendly and made me feel at home straight away. I was given a quote by Robbie Savage’s mum which fits it perfectly- ‘It’s nice to be important and it’s far more important to be nice’.”

President Mike Prior is a true legend at Ringway and he said: “I will be celebrating 50 years of membership at Ringway so I’m particularly thrilled to have just become the club’s President.

“I previously served as Captain in 2015 and my wife Anglela was Lady Captain in 2001.

“One of our grandsons Bert has recently joined Ringway so the family connection will continue.”

Completing the team is Junior Captain Ellis Courtnell, one of Cheshire Golf’s junior stars who was a member of the Cheshire Boys team who won the England County Boys Championship and the Four Counties Championship last year and will be looking to add more success to his terrific career in golf in such a short time.
