President reigns supreme at Stockport The Captain and President Drive-in at Stockport Golf club saw new Captain Sean Hickey and President Scott Grayson begin their year in glorious sunshine- a good omen for the year to come for the two best friends. The first match out was Captain v President in a 4 Ball Match play and the results were not divulged until after a fine two-course dinner and wine provided by Captain and President. Sean and professional Jamie Storey won their match but the President’s teams triumphed by 15 holes and they were each handed a new ball by the Captain’s team and the winners were toasted before the President made his victory speech followed by a great evening of celebration. Elisbeth Wilson Scratch Knockout Wallasey Ladies beat The Wilmslow Ladies in the final of the Elisabeth Wilson Scratch Knockout at Bramall Park Golf Club. The 2 teams played in perfect conditions , both the weather and the golf course could not be faulted. The competition which was introduced to Cheshire Ladies Golf by Elisabeth Wilson in 1991 is very popular. Wallasey only entered the competition for the first time last year and got through to the final, but lost to Sandiway. This year they came determined to improve the result and won 4/1 All games are played off scratch, and the atmosphere was competitive but friendly and all matches were played in an excellent spirit. Matches are played on neutral courses for the semi-finals and final and thanks must go to Hale and Wilmslow for the semi final venues and Bramall Park for the final where excellent hospitality was given. Lis came to watch and presented the trophy to the winning team. Stewart Neil was the starter.

Girls Drive Chip Putt and Presentation 2026 Sunday 4th October saw the 4th edition of our annual Junior Girls end of season Drive, Chip Putt skills competition and prize presentation, at Bramhall GC. The weather was very kind with lots of sunshine and a light breeze as a record 54 girls undertook the 6 skills activities laid out across Bramhall’s practice area. Girls aged from 5 through to 18, split into 6 groups matched for age or ability, took on the Longest Drive, Target Chipping, getting out of a Bunker and Putting. There were also 2 fun skills of Golf Darts and a Fitness Plank challenge. After the Skills challenges, the players returned to the clubhouse where their scores were added up and the Winners were then announced as part of the annual Cheshire Girls prize presentation. (Full listing sent over earlier). During the presentation over 60 prizes and certificates were handed over by Cheshire Golf President Marjorie Griffiths before Naomi Willans, 2026 County Junior Girls Captain, then gave her summary of her season at the top. The highlight of which was to beat Yorkshire!! Then Naomi introduced 2026 multi-award winner Jessica Flynn (Bramhall GC) as the incoming 2027 Girls Captain. The day was finished off with Cathy Day (Cheshire Girls Manager) handing over her role, which she’s held since early 2023, to Christina Hornsby (Royal Liverpool GC) before everyone enjoyed a meal of sandwiches and chips. All in all another fantastic day hosted by Bramhall GC and lead by an army of 20 Cheshire Golf Officials, Volunteers and parents. When this event was first held in 2023 there were just 21 competitors, but that number has grown year on year as more players get to know of the event. This years entry list of 54 is a record but hopefully this will continue to grow, with the introduction of more Drive Chip Putt events for Cheshire Girls in 2027.
